Registered Nurse (RN) - Neuro Intermediate Care Unit

Join a dynamic healthcare team as a Registered Nurse in our Neuro Intermediate Care Unit. We are looking for skilled professionals who are dedicated to providing exceptional patient care and supporting a collaborative work environment.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Provide direct patient care to an intermediate population, specifically focusing on neurological patients and medical intermediate patients.
  • Monitor patient vitals and assess neurological conditions, including managing patients post-surgery and during crises.
  • Perform cardiac monitoring, telemetry, and respond to emergency situations using rapid response and code team protocols.
  • Administer medications and manage IV therapy, including titration of vasoactive drips, IV insulin protocols, and heparin protocols.
  • Manage gastrointestinal and genitourinary systems, including feeding tube care and continuous bladder irrigation.
  • Care for ventilated patients, administer oxygen therapy, and manage tracheostomy care and maintenance.
  • Adhere to isolation precautions and wound care protocols, ensuring patient safety at all times.

Qualifications:

  • Minimum of 2 years of experience in a neuro stepdown, PCU, DOU, IMC, or telemetry setting is required. Preference for candidates with neuro experience.
  • Epic experience is required.
  • Certifications: ACLS, BLS, NIHSS. Additional certs such as CCRN, TNCC, and CPI are preferred.
  • Must be able to effectively administer and titrate levophed (LEVO).
  • Strong teamwork skills and the ability to adhere to behavioral expectations in interactions with patients and staff.
  • Willingness to comply with a strict call-off policy.

Work Details:

  • Shift: 4 x 12-hour night shifts, from 18:45 to 07:15.
  • Patient-to-nurse ratio: 1:4, with an average daily census of 24 patients.
  • Weekend requirement: Minimum of 3 weekend shifts every six weeks.
  • No on-call or float requirements, though potential to float to other intermediate areas is possible.
  • Unit orientation includes 32 hours of training, structured to integrate into the team efficiently.
