Registered Nurse (RN) - Neuro Intermediate Care Unit

We are seeking a dedicated Registered Nurse to join our Neuro Intermediate Care Unit. This role requires a strong commitment to patient care and teamwork, as well as compliance with established policies and protocols. Below are the key responsibilities, qualifications, and details related to this position.

Responsibilities

• Titrate LEVO under established protocols.
• Provide comprehensive nursing care to neuro and medical intermediate patients.
• Manage cardiac monitoring and emergency response situations, including interpretation of dysrhythmias.
• Administer IV insulin protocols and manage insulin drips.
• Perform feeding tube care and management.
• Administer Continuous Bladder Irrigation (CBI) and manage pre/post hemodialysis.
• Conduct thorough management of blood product administration and central/peripheral/PICC line care.
• Implement medication protocols related to heparin, PCA, thrombolytic agents, cardiac and vasoactive drips.
• Provide care for patients with neurological conditions, including aneurysms, CVA, and post-surgical needs.
• Manage respiratory care, including BiPAP/CPAP, ventilated patients, and tracheostomy care.
• Adhere to infection control and wound care standards.
• Maintain clear and professional communication following SBAR protocol.

Qualifications

• A minimum of 2 years of nursing experience, specifically in Neuro care.
• Prior traveler experience is preferred; first-time travelers will not be considered.
• Experience in Neuro Stepdown, PCU, DOU, IMC, and Telemetry settings.
• Proficiency in EKG interpretation and testing is required.
• Certifications: BLS, ACLS, NIHSS; additional certifications such as CCRN, TNCC, and CPI are preferred.
• Must demonstrate teamwork and meet behavioral expectations in all patient and staff interactions.
• Strong adherence to call-off policy is mandatory.

Work Details

• Patient ratios: 1:4 with an average daily census of 24 patients.
• Shifts: Night shifts with options for 36 and 48 hours.
• Unit orientation includes 32 hours, comprising computer training and on-site shifts.
• Travelers are required to work a minimum of 3 weekend shifts every six weeks.

• Adherence to the call-off policy will be strictly enforced.
