Job Summary
Progressive Care Unit (PCU) Nurse, Night Shift, located in the healthcare providers facility, provides specialized nursing care for adult patients recovering from cardiac procedures and surgeries. This role entails managing complex cardiac cases, including open-heart surgery and vascular patients, and working within a dynamic, interdisciplinary team to ensure high-quality patient outcomes.
Job Details
- Schedule: Night shift, 12-hour shifts, minimum of 48 hours per week.
- Required Qualifications: Valid compact license in the state; at least 2 years of clinical experience in surgical telemetry, open-heart surgery, vascular care, IV skills, and NIH Stroke Scale (NIHSS). ACLS, BLS certifications required. Epic experience is a hard stop requirement.
- Preferred Qualifications: Experience with VAD, TAVR procedures, chest tubes, sternal precautions, and telemetry monitoring.
- Responsibilities: Managing patients with myocardial infarction, arrhythmias, pre/post open-heart surgery, vascular patients, stroke with cardiac involvement, and structural heart supports such as VAD and TAVR. Performing procedures like breathing treatments, chest tube care, blood product administration, cardioversion, defibrillation, and managing hemodynamic drips. Monitoring and interpreting cardiac telemetry, managing chest tubes, and ensuring patient safety with sternal precautions.
- Additional Information: Candidates must be flexible to float between like units as required. Previous experience with Epic electronic medical record system and the ability to respond to a fast-paced cardiac telemetry environment are essential. Submittals require two references covering the past year and responses to candidate-specific questions regarding previous work at Providence facilities.
