Registered Nurse (RN) - Neuro Intermediate Care Unit

We are seeking an experienced Registered Nurse to join our Neuro Intermediate Care Unit. The ideal candidate will provide high-quality care to a specialized population of patients with neurological conditions and medical intermediate needs. The role requires a strong teamwork approach and adherence to established behavioral expectations in interactions with both patients and staff.

Key Responsibilities

  • Provide patient care in the Neuro Stepdown, PCU/DOU/IMC/Stepdown, and Telemetry settings.
  • Monitor cardiac rhythms, interpret dysrhythmias, and manage emergency responses.
  • Administer IV therapy, including blood product administration and management of central and peripheral lines.
  • Titrate LEVO and other vasoactive drips; manage insulin protocols and treat patients with feeding tubes.
  • Care for patients with various neurological conditions such as aneurysms, CVA, and traumatic brain injuries.
  • Ensure compliance with isolation precautions, provide wound care, and operate medical equipment effectively.
  • Participate in supportive care for ventilated patients and manage respiratory interventions.
  • Assist in pre and post-operative care for neurosurgical patients.
  • Implement and manage continuous bladder irrigation and dialysis care.

Qualifying Skills and Experience

  • Minimum of 2 years of nursing experience, particularly in a Neuro setting; first-time travelers will not be accepted.
  • Proficiency in titrating LEVO and managing critical care protocols.
  • Experience with EPIC and familiarity with telemetry systems.
  • Certification in ACLS, BLS, and NIHSS is required.
  • Strong ability in cardiac monitoring and emergency response protocols.
  • Preferred: CCRN, TNCC, and CPI certifications.

Work Environment

  • Patient ratios of 1:4 with an average daily census of 24 patients.
  • Work schedule consists of 12-hour night shifts from 18:45 to 07:15.
  • Weekend shifts required, with a minimum of 3 weekends every six weeks.
  • No on-call duty required; floating to other intermediate care areas may be necessary.
  • Orientation includes 32 hours of training, with an 8-hour computer class and two shifts on the unit.
