Registered Nurse (RN) - Med Surg/PCU/Tele

Job Details

We are seeking a dedicated Registered Nurse to join our team in a Med Surg/PCU/Tele unit focusing on Neuro Trauma. This position entails a night shift with a commitment to providing high-quality patient care.

Unit Information

The Med Surg/PCU/Tele unit, known for its neuro specialization, consists of 28 beds with varying patient care requirements based on acuity levels.

• Nurse to Patient Ratios: Days 1:4-5, Nights 1:5-6
• Common Diagnoses: Strokes, seizures, Guillain-Barré syndrome, Myasthenia gravis, spinal injuries, thrombectomies, trauma orthopedic injuries, and more.

Key Responsibilities

• Administer medications and monitor patient vital signs.
• Titrate drips as necessary, including Heparin, Nitro, and Insulin.
• Provide care for patients with tracheostomies and ventilators; training available for those open to learning.
• Floating to sister units may be required as needed.

Qualifications

• Must possess a current BLS and NIHSS certification.
• Minimum of 2 years of Med Surg, PCU, or ICU experience, with at least 1 year in a similar setting.
• Experience with drip management is essential.
• Preference for candidates with home trach and vent experience.

Work Schedule

This is a full-time position requiring self-scheduling with manager oversight to ensure balanced staffing. The schedule includes:

• Night shift from 7:00 PM to 7:30 AM.
• Every other weekend and holiday shifts.

Orientation and Support

New hires will undergo a structured orientation process, which includes:

• One shift of general orientation.
• One shift with a preceptor for guided support.

Dress Code

Staff are required to wear solid color scrubs.
