Job Overview

We are seeking an experienced Med Surg/PCU/Tele Registered Nurse (RN) for our Neuro Trauma unit. The position involves working on a dynamic step-down unit that focuses on a range of neurological and trauma-related conditions.

Unit Information

• Unit Type: Stepdown
• Beds: 28
• Nurse: Patient Ratios:
  • Days: 1:4-5
  • Nights: 1:5-6
• Common Diagnoses:
  • Neurological conditions such as strokes, seizures, Guillain-Barré syndrome, Myasthenia gravis, and spinal injuries.
  • Trauma-related injuries, including orthopedic trauma, hematomas, and accidents.

Job Responsibilities

The Med Surg/PCU/Tele Registered Nurse will be responsible for providing high-quality patient care, including:

• Monitoring and managing patients with tracheostomies and ventilators.
• Titrating IV drips including but not limited to heparin, nitroglycerin, diltiazem, amiodarone, and insulin.
• Collaborating with interdisciplinary teams to optimize patient outcomes.
• Functioning in a self-scheduling environment with shift management responsibilities.
• Floating to other units as needed, based on patient care requirements.

Qualifications

• Experience: Minimum of 2 years in MS, PCU, or ICU settings.
• Certifications Required:
  • BLS (AHA)
  • NIHSS
• Skills:
  • Must have recent experience with trach vents.
  • Experience in drip management is essential.
  • Willingness to learn and adapt to new technologies and medical equipment.

Shift Requirements

• Shift Length: 12 hours
• Schedule: 1900 to 0730, with every other weekend and holiday commitment.

Dress Code

Employees are required to wear solid color scrubs during their shifts.

Orientation

Initial orientation includes one general shift and one shift with a preceptor to ensure proper training and integration into the team.
