Registered Nurse (RN) - PCU

Job Summary

We are seeking a skilled and dedicated Registered Nurse (RN) to join our progressive care unit (PCU). This role requires a strong background in critical care nursing with hands-on experience in managing complex patient cases.

Key Responsibilities

• Provide high-quality nursing care to patients in the PCU.
• Monitor and assess patient conditions, including vital signs and telemetry data.
• Administer medications, including intravenous (IV) vasoactive drips and blood products.
• Perform procedures such as arterial line placements, central line management, and tracheostomy care.
• Utilize rapid response teams effectively and manage patients in respiratory distress and unstable hemodynamics.
• Collaborate with healthcare teams to develop and implement individualized care plans.
• Provide patient and family education on post-operative care and disease management.
• Participate in the management of dysrhythmias and utilize advanced skills in telemetry.
• Ensure adherence to isolation precautions when necessary.

Required Skills and Qualifications

• Minimum of 2 years of nursing experience in a progressive care or critical care environment.
• Proficient in titrating vasoactive drips and managing conscious sedation.
• Strong understanding of telemetry and dysrhythmia interpretation.
• Experience with IV insulin protocols, blood product administration, and central/pPeripheral line management.
• Familiarity with special procedures such as chest tube management, BIPAP, and high-flow nasal cannula use.
• Certification in ACLS, BCLS, and NIH Stroke Scale required.
• Ability to provide appropriate care to patients of all ages, from adolescents to geriatrics.

Additional Information

• Target nurse-to-patient ratios of 1:3-4.
• Shifts are 12 hours, with a requirement to work every other weekend.
• Floating to an ICCU unit may be required as needed.
• Must be available for hospital orientation and educational sessions during the first week.
• All nurses must pass EKG testing prior to start.
• Scrubs should be navy, white, or a combination of both.
