Job Description

We are seeking an experienced Registered Nurse for a 25-bed Critical Access Hospital specializing in Medical-Surgical (MedSurg) and Progressive Care Unit (PCU) nursing. The ideal candidate must be flexible and willing to adapt to various departments as needed. Candidates should be prepared to work through the upcoming holiday season with minimal request time off (RTO) dates.

Key Responsibilities

• Assess and identify patient education needs for patients and their significant others, providing education using appropriate modalities.
• Ensure patient safety through preventative measures such as the proper use of side rails, restraints, and equipment.
• Demonstrate competency in safe operation and troubleshooting of all necessary equipment in the PCU, Telemetry, and MedSurg areas.
• Implement infection control and isolation procedures, ensuring thorough documentation and adherence to standard precautions.
• Maintain accurate and comprehensive documentation of patient status, interventions, and responses during assigned shifts.
• Complete physician orders promptly, conducting regular checks for completion and accuracy of orders within the assigned shift.
• Provide thorough change of shift reports to oncoming staff, ensuring effective communication between departments.
• Timely report critical lab values to the appropriate physician in accordance with established protocols.
• Maintain and restock emergency carts, rooms, and general supplies as required.
• Perform other duties as assigned.
