Job Description & Requirements

  • Shift: 12 hours, nights
  • Employment Type: Travel

 

  • Shift:Nights, 4x12s — 7:00 PM–7:00 AM
  • Hours:48 hours/week; can accommodate 36 hours/week if desired
  • EMR:Epic — required
  • Floating:Required across campuses, including Iowa Methodist Medical Center and Iowa Lutheran
  • Experience:24 months of current Med/Surg, IMCU, Stepdown, or Progressive Care experience — required
  • Weekend:Every other or every 3rd weekend, depending on staffing/census
  • Holiday: Must work 1–2 of the 3 upcoming winter holidays, unless the unit is closed
  • Certifications:AHA ACLS + AHA BLS required; NIHSS preferred
  • First-Time Travelers:Not accepted — must have completed at least one travel assignment within the previous 12 months
  • Unit:25-bed unit caring for heavy neuro trauma, neurosurgery, craniectomy, and orthopedic patients
  • Patient Ratio:1:5–6
  • Required Clinical Experience:Neurology/neurosurgery, orthopedic, and trauma care
  • Required Drip Experience:Heparin, PCA, and 3% sodium/Na — no titration required
  • Required Telemetry Skills:EKG/strip reading and telemetry
  • Preferred Equipment:Telemetry, chest tubes, Airvo
  • Trauma:Level I Trauma experience highly preferred
  • Radius Rule:No locals — candidate must live at least 50 miles from the facility, based on driver’s license
  • License:Active Iowa RN license or Compact/Multistate license required at submission
  • Scrubs:Navy blue
  • OnCall: None
