Job Summary:
Progressive Care Unit (PCU) Registered Nurse (RN) position in Redding, California. This role involves providing specialized nursing care in a stepdown unit, caring for patients transitioning from intensive care or requiring high-acuity monitoring. The RN will work in a busy, team-oriented environment, emphasizing patient experience, HCAHPS scores, and core measures.
Job Details:
- Shift: 12-hour shifts starting at 6:45 AM and 6:45 PM, with a schedule of three shifts per week. Shifts are scheduled approximately 2-3 weeks in advance, with ongoing planning up to nine weeks.
- Required Qualifications: Valid California RN license, BLS, ACLS, NIH Stroke Scale (NIHSS) certifications; 3 years of RN experience in a Progressive Care Unit or ICU Step-down setting; experience with arterial and CVP pressure lines, titrating pressors including precedex, and managing trach and stable ventilated patients.
- Preferred Qualifications: Experience in telemetry, high-risk medication training, and familiarity with patient diagnoses such as TBI/trauma, post-major surgery, CEA, and sepsis.
- Schedule: 12-hour days, every other weekend (Saturday and Sunday), with four weekend shifts in a four-week schedule.
- Additional Information: First to float to Telemetry or Medical-Surgical units if needed. The unit maintains a nurse-to-patient ratio of 1:3, with one aide for all 14 beds most of the time.
