TotalMed RN is seeking a travel nurse RN PCU - Progressive Care Unit for a travel nursing job in Louisville, Kentucky.

Job Description & Requirements

Requirements

  • At least 2 years of short-term acute care experience; 3 years preferred
  • Prior travel experience; first-time travelers are not accepted
  • BLS and NIHSS
  • Step-down, telemetry, or experience taking higher-acuity patient assignments beyond Med/Surg
  • Must be comfortable providing Med/Surg through step-down care

Schedule and patient care

  • Ratio: 1:5
  • Patients: Trauma and post-surgical patients, including motor vehicle accidents, gunshot wounds, blunt/penetrating trauma, amputations, and elective procedures
  • Skills: Blood administration, skeletal and Buck’s traction, JP drains and chest tubes, wound care and wound VACs, heparin drips, high-flow oxygen, stable BiPAP, and possible insulin drips
  • Support: Two CNAs per shift; daytime clerical support
  • Floating: To mixed-acuity units only
  • Weekends: Every other weekend
  • On-call: None
