Opportunity:

RN - 3W Stepdown

Job Details:

• 12-hour night shifts from 7:00 PM to 7:30 AM
• Weekends as scheduled with every other weekend requirement (Nights: Friday/Saturday/Sunday)
• Every other holiday worked in rotation with permanent staff
• Patient ratio of 1:4-5 (1:6 if MedSurg acuity)
• 28-bed private room stepdown unit with heavy cardiac focus including dysrhythmias, CVAs, and patients downgraded from the ICU
• Charting system: EPIC (currently transitioning from Cerner)
• Scrub color: Navy blue; jackets (if worn) must also be navy blue
• Must be able to read and interpret telemetry strips; unit serves as the central monitor station for the entire hospital
• Must be able to titrate drips including Cardizem, Nitro, Dopamine, Dobutamine, and Heparin; Insulin is set-rate only; no sedation drips
• Experience with Bipap, Cpap, and High Flow ventilation required
• Must be able to work independently at night as no CNAs are on the floor after 11:00 PM
• May float to ICU in a helping hands capacity
• 2-shift orientation with a preceptor provided
• Block scheduling available
• Required certifications: ACLS, BLS, NIHSS
• BSN not required
• Unexpired copy of candidate's driver's license must be included with all submissions
• Cannot be submitted to more than one position at a time within the WVU system

Facility:

This acute care facility operates a 28-bed private stepdown unit with a strong focus on cardiac patients, including those with dysrhythmias, CVAs, and patients transitioning down from the ICU. The facility provides robust support services including in-house hospitalist coverage 24/7, an intensivist available in the ICU seven days a week, respiratory therapy, and pharmacy services all available around the clock. A monitor technician is on staff, and ICU charge nurses or the ICU Director are available to assist with difficult IV access.
