Job Summary:
Progressive Care Unit Registered Nurse position in Louisville, Kentucky. This role involves providing specialized care in a 28-bed unit with a focus on transplant, ESRD, dialysis, and general patient care. The nurse will support a collaborative team environment, utilizing advanced clinical skills and equipment to deliver high-quality patient care.
Job Details:
- Schedule: Nights shift, 12-hour shifts, with a minimum of 36 hours per week.
- Required Qualifications: Valid BLS (Basic Life Support) certification, CPI (Crisis Prevention Institute) certification; 1 year of relevant clinical experience; ability to attend NIHSS (National Institute of Health Stroke Scale) training; current licensure to practice as an RN.
- Preferred Qualifications: Experience with transplant patients, manual peritoneal dialysis, and surgical preparation.
- Patient Types/Common Diagnoses: ESRD, dialysis patients, and upcoming training on transplant patients.
- Patient Ratios: RN: 1:2 for new kidney, CVT; 1:4; general: 1:5. CNA coverage during day and night shifts.
- Support within the Department: CNA, secretary, charge nurse, Phlebotomy, resource nurse, rapid response team, RT, hospitalist, transplant teams, and central tele monitoring are available 24/7.
- Technology/Equipment: EMR system, Cerner; IV pumps (Plum ICU Medical), Med dispensing (Omnicell); vital monitoring equipment, telemetering, and unit-specific tools.
- Orientation: 2 shifts of facility and unit orientation.
- Floating: First to float if needed, based on unit's policy.
- Other Notes: Scrub color - Galaxy Blue; free parking with badge access; unit culture includes celebrations and potlucks.
