Compensation & Schedule Details

  • Hours & Shift: Night shift (36 hours per week / 12-hour shifts). Target start date: October 12, 2026.
  • Weekend & Holiday Requirements: Every other weekend required. Holidays expected based on unit needs. No on-call requirement.
  • Time Off & Interview: Requested Time Off (RTO) requires Nurse Manager approval. Clinical interview with manager approval via SimpliFi.
  • Parking: Free, badge-access parking lot available on site.

Key Facility Policies & Unit Scope

  • Unit Overview: 16-bed intermediate/stepdown cardiac unit. Patient ratio is 1:5.
  • Support Staff & Charge: 2 PCAs/CNAs on days (1 on nights); 1 HUC on days. Charge RN takes a patient assignment.
  • Floating & Notification: Floating required within and below scope of practice, typically notified about 1 hour prior to shift start via Smart Square.
  • Equipment & EMR: EMR via Cerner, infusion pumps via Plum ICU Medical, medication dispensing via Omnicell, and telemetry monitors via Philips (unit equipment includes external pacers and pulse generators).
  • Dress Code:Galaxy blue scrubs required.
  • Orientation Schedule: 5-day orientation layout (Day 1: New Employee Orientation; Day 2: Patient Experience & NVCI class; Day 3: Nursing Orientation; Day 4: Unit Orientation [Day]; Day 5: Unit Orientation [Night]).

Requirements & Qualifications

  • Experience: Minimum 1 year of experience required (first-time travelers accepted). Specialized background in post-op heart surgery (CABG, valve surgery, chest pain, dysrhythmia/pacemakers/AICD, pre/post-cath lab, CHF).
  • Core Skills: Heart monitor interpretation, trach care, chest tube management, PIV starts, phlebotomy, and management of titratable/set drips (Primacor, amiodarone, dobutamine, heparin).
  • Licensure: Active Kentucky (KY) RN license or multi-state compact RN license in hand.
  • Certifications: AHA BLS and NIHSS required at submittal (AHA ACLS preferred).
