Wellspring Nurse Source is seeking a travel nurse RN PCU - Progressive Care Unit for a travel nursing job in Boone, North Carolina.

IMCU Float Pool Registered Nurse (RN)

Schedule

  • 3x12-hour shifts, 7:00 PM – 7:00 AM
  • Up to 2 weekends per month
  • Floating required to MedSurg based on patient volume
  • Holidays required
  • Block scheduling may be considered if requested upfront (not guaranteed)

Clinical Details

Seeking an experienced Registered Nurse to join the IMCU Float Pool. Responsibilities include:

  • Utilizing EPIC EMR (recent experience/proficiency required)
  • Performing telemetry monitoring and managing patient care
  • Maintaining an average patient ratio of 5:1, with a goal of 4:1
  • Managing an average census of 20-24 patients on a 24-bed unit
  • Providing care to pediatric patients as needed

Requirements

  • Minimum of 2 years of IMCU or telemetry experience
  • At least 2 years of travel nursing experience required
  • Active nursing license in North Carolina or compact RN license
  • Current certifications in BLS, ACLS, PALS, and NIHSS are required

Additional Notes

  • Scrub colors: Navy or white only
  • Local rule: No candidates residing within 40 miles of the facility (driver’s license is required for address verification prior to offer)

This unit functions as a step-down and progressive care unit, with most patients requiring telemetry monitoring. Common IV drips managed on these units include Heparin, Nitroglycerin, Cardizem, and Amiodarone, with strict protocols in place for management under established parameters. Patients may be transferred to the ICU if higher levels of care are needed.
