This role involves providing specialized care for patients with a wide range of medical conditions, including respiratory, neuro, surgical, and cardiac issues. The position requires a dedicated registered nurse to deliver high-quality patient care in a fast-paced acute care setting, adhering to unit protocols and safety standards.

Job Details

• Position Description:
  Care for a 20-bed step-down unit with 8 private rooms and semi-private accommodations, managing patients with conditions such as COPD, CHF, DM, sepsis, renal issues, DKA, alcohol withdrawal, overdoses, pneumonia, respiratory conditions, neuro/surgical/cardiac patients, and ventilated patients with trachs, chest tubes, G tubes, NG tubes, PICC lines, and central lines.
• Required Qualifications:
  Valid active Illinois nursing license or confirmation that the application process has been initiated, BLS certification required; ACLS recommended, 1 year of ICU/Intermediate (Stepdown) experience, and proficiency in vent and trach management.
• Schedule:
  Shift times are days, with 12-hour shifts from 7:00 AM to 7:00 PM, totaling a minimum of 36 hours per week.
• Additional Information:
  The unit operates with a nurse-to-patient ratio of 3 to 1 or 2 to 1, with experience in titrating drips such as Cardene, Cardizem, Amio, Dobutamine, Heparin, and vasopressors. RNs are required to read their own bedside monitors (Phillips), and the unit is equipped with bedside monitors interpreted by Tele/Monitor Techs. The RN will participate in every other weekend and holiday rotations and will float as needed, including to ICU for those with extensive ICU experience. Orientation includes EPIC system training, unit orientation, and on-the-floor supervised practice.
