Required Qualifications
- BLS certification
- Experience caring for high-acuity surgical stepdown patients
- Ability to manage complex drains, lines, tubes, and IV infusions

Unit Details
- Patient Ratio: Typically 4:1; sometimes 3:1
- Unit Environment: Fast-paced, high-acuity surgical stepdown
- Devices & Patient Care Skills:
- Chest tubes
- Arterial lines
- PICC lines and other central lines
- Ostomies
- Tracheostomies
- NG tubes
- Wound vacs
- Various surgical drains
Drips & IV Infusions
Nurses must be comfortable managing:
- Heparin
- Insulin
- Nitroglycerin
- Amiodarone
- Cardizem (diltiazem)
Schedule & Holiday Requirements
- Shift: 7:00 PM–7:30 AM
- Weekends: Every other weekend
- Thanksgiving: Required
- Winter Holidays: Must work Thanksgiving and one additional winter holiday.
