Job Requirements
- Current Registered Nurse (RN) license in Virginia or compact state eligibility
- Minimum of 2 years of recent acute care RN experience required
- Experience in Progressive Care, Stepdown, Telemetry, or Intermediate Care strongly preferred
- BLS certification required
- ACLS certification required
- NIH Stroke certification required
- Strong critical thinking skills and the ability to recognize early signs of patient deterioration
- Experience with cardiac rhythm interpretation and titratable cardiac drips preferred
- Prior travel nursing experience preferred
- Ability to work every other weekend and holidays as scheduled
- Comfort with floating to comparable Med-Surg or Telemetry units when needed
Responsibilities
- Deliver high-quality patient care using the nursing process from assessment through evaluation
- Monitor and manage patients with complex medical conditions including respiratory failure, CHF, sepsis, STEMI, GI bleeds, and more
- Interpret telemetry rhythms and respond quickly to changes in patient condition
- Administer medications and manage cardiac drips safely and accurately
- Collaborate with physicians, therapists, and interdisciplinary care team members to support optimal outcomes
- Educate patients and families to promote understanding, comfort, and continuity of care
- Maintain accurate documentation and communicate patient status changes promptly
- Provide care with professionalism, adaptability, and a strong focus on patient safety
- Support a collaborative unit culture while delivering dependable care during night shifts
