Registered Nurse Job Requirements

• Current RN license in the state of practice or compact state eligibility
• Minimum of 1 year of Registered Nurse experience required
• 1 year of experience in an acute care hospital setting preferred
• BLS required; ACLS required within 6 months of hire
• NIH Stroke Certification preferred
• Ability to pass an EKG exam at orientation
• Proficiency with lab draws required
• Experience with cardiac drips, BiPAP, insulin drips, and cardiac rhythm monitoring preferred

Progressive Care Unit Nurse Responsibilities

• Provide comprehensive nursing care to PCU and step-down patients with cardiac, surgical, renal, and respiratory needs
• Perform ongoing assessments, develop care plans, implement interventions, and evaluate patient outcomes
• Administer medications safely and accurately in accordance with clinical standards and hospital policies
• Monitor cardiac rhythms, manage drips and titrations, and respond quickly to changing patient conditions
• Support patients requiring BiPAP, conscious sedation, and advanced respiratory support
• Coordinate care with interdisciplinary team members and communicate effectively with patients and families
• Maintain patient safety, infection control, and high standards of professional nursing practice
• Adapt quickly in a high-acuity environment while delivering compassionate, evidence-based care
