Job Summary
The organization is seeking a Step Down Unit (Specialty) Registered Nurse for a 12-hour night shift position in the acute care setting. The role involves caring for adult and geriatric patients with diagnoses such as cardiac issues, nephrology conditions, strokes, and diabetes, with continuous EEG monitoring. The RN will be responsible for providing high-quality patient care in a fast-paced environment, adhering to unit protocols and policies.

Job Details

  • Certifications: BLS (American Heart Association), ACLS (American Heart Association), NIHSS
  • Education Requirements: Qualified candidates must possess a current license to submit.
  • Location Requirements: Candidates must be outside a 50-mile radius from any facility associated with the organization, as verified by driver's license.
  • Experience: Minimum of 0 years required; candidates with at least 2 years of experience are preferred.
  • Shift: Nights, 12 hours per shift, minimum 36 hours per week
  • Schedule: Shifts run from 6:30 PM to 7:00 AM, with every third holiday work and every other weekend. No call or standby required.
  • Additional Responsibilities:
    • Manage patients with diagnoses including cardiac, nephrology, strokes, DM, and continuous EEG monitoring.
    • Titrate medication drips including Cardizem, betablockers, and seizure medications.
    • Collaborate with charge nurses and patient care techs under nurse-to-patient ratios of 1:4-5.
    • Complete unit-specific onboarding and orientation.
    • Ensure compliance with fingernail policy; artificial nails are prohibited.
    • Pass a skills exam during orientation with a minimum score of 90%.
    • Use EPIC for charting.
    • Must have driver's license for compliance verification.
