Progressive Care Unit (PCU) Registered Nurse – 13-Week Travel Nursing Contract in Ypsilanti, Michigan

Travel RN Job Details
- Location: Ypsilanti, Michigan 48197, a community in the greater Ann Arbor area with access to nearby dining, cultural, and recreational options
- Weekly Estimated Pay: $1,980–$2,080
- Assignment Start: October 19, 2026
- Assignment End: January 17, 2027
- Contract Duration: 13 weeks
- Schedule: 12-hour night shifts, 7:00 p.m.–7:30 a.m.
- Hours: 36 guaranteed hours per week, generally three 12-hour shifts
- Weekend Requirement: Every other weekend
- Holiday Requirement: Thanksgiving and one additional winter holiday
- Unit: High-acuity surgical progressive care/step-down unit
PCU Registered Nurse Job Requirements
- Active Registered Nurse license eligible for practice in Michigan
- At least 1 year of recent PCU, progressive care, step-down, or ICU nursing experience
- Current Basic Life Support certification
- Experience caring for high-acuity postoperative or surgical patients
- Ability to manage a 4:1 patient assignment and respond effectively in a fast-paced setting
- Clinical competency with chest tubes, arterial lines, PICC lines, central lines, ostomies, tracheostomies, nasogastric tubes, wound vacs, and other drains
- Experience managing heparin, insulin, nitroglycerin, amiodarone, and diltiazem infusions
- Electronic medical record experience; Epic experience preferred
- Strong assessment, prioritization, communication, and teamwork skills
Progressive Care Travel Nurse Responsibilities
- Provide comprehensive nursing care to high-acuity surgical step-down patients during 12-hour night shifts
- Assess patient condition, recognize changes in status, and promptly escalate concerns
- Safely manage chest tubes, arterial and central lines, PICC lines, tracheostomies, ostomies, NG tubes, wound vacs, and surgical drains
- Administer and closely monitor complex intravenous infusions, including heparin, insulin, nitroglycerin, amiodarone, and diltiazem
- Collaborate with physicians, advanced practice providers, rehabilitation services, and interdisciplinary team members to coordinate patient care
- Perform medication administration, treatments, reassessments, documentation, and patient education in accordance with established standards
- Support safe transitions of care by communicating changes, ongoing needs, and discharge considerations
- Promote a safe, respectful, and patient-centered environment for patients and families
