Job Summary:
The healthcare provider is seeking a Step Down Unit Registered Nurse (RN) in Henderson, Kentucky. This role involves providing care for adult patients with complex medical conditions, including those requiring cardiac, respiratory, and surgical support, during night shifts. The position offers a dynamic environment with opportunities to showcase clinical expertise in a smaller, well-established facility.
Job Details:
- Schedule: 12-hour night shifts, minimum of 36 hours per week.
- Required Qualifications: Active compact nursing license, current AHA Basic Life Support (BLS), American Heart Association Advanced Cardiovascular Life Support (ACLS), National Institute of Health Stroke Scale (NIHSS), at least 2 years of RN experience including one solid year in a stepdown or progressive care unit, recent Electronic Health Record (EHR) experience, including checkoff.
- Preferred Qualifications: Experience with peripheral IV insertion, ventilator management, chest tube and indwelling drain care, continuous BiPap, blood product administration, and complex drips such as insulin, heparin, and cardiac infusions.
- Shift Requirement: 12-hour night shifts with start date of 08/24/2026.
- Float Requirements: Float to within the skill set, potential float to neighboring campuses within an 8-11 mile radius with a 2-hour notice. Cross-campus float within the same shift is possible but unlikely.
- Patient Population: Adult stepdown/PCU patients with conditions such as sepsis, CHF, COPD, DKA, cirrhosis, dementia, and post-surgical care, including urology, abdominal, and orthopedic surgeries.
- Additional Information: No local candidates permitted; a minimum of two years of recent RN experience is required, including solid stepdown or PCU background. The unit features small, experienced teams with high retention, providing an excellent environment for seasoned nurses.
