Job Summary:
The healthcare provider is seeking a Step Down Unit Registered Nurse (RN) for a 13-week contract in a facility located in Henderson, Kentucky. The position involves day shifts with a focus on step down and progressive care patient populations, requiring experienced RNs to manage complex cases including medical drips and critical patient monitoring.

Job Details:

  • Contract Length: 13 weeks, starting 08/10/2026
  • Certification Requirements: Must have a current active compact license, AHA BLS, AHA ACLS, NIHSS
  • Education: Associate Degree or Certificate
  • Experience: Minimum of 2 years as an RN, including at least one solid year of step down or PCU experience, with recent EPIC charting experience (will require a checkoff class)
  • Float Policy: First float within skillset; potential float to nearby campuses with 2 hours' notice; cross-campus float unlikely but possible
  • Patient Population: Stepdown/PCU patients including insulin, heparin, cardiac drips, sepsis, CHF, COPD, DKA, cirrhosis, dementia, surgical urology, abdominal, orthopedics
  • Skillset: Required Tele interpretation, insulin/titrate, cardiac drips; Preferred PIV insertion, ventilator management, chest tube management, blood products, drain management, and more
  • Unit Details: 10 bed step down; patient ratios Day: 1:4-5, Night: 1:5-6; Tele: 15 beds with ratios Day: 1:5-6, Night: 1:6
  • Other Requirements: Must be a resilient, social, diligent worker with strong assessment and critical thinking skills; unit may involve precepting students and new hires
  • Shift Hours and Minimum Weekly Hours: 12 hours per shift, at least 36 hours per week
  • Interview Days: Monday through Friday
  • Beds: 15
