Job Requirements
- Active Registered Nurse (RN) license in the state of assignment or compact licensure
- At least 1 year of RN experience required
- Experience in an acute care hospital setting preferred
- BLS required; ACLS preferred at hire and required within 6 months of start
- NIH Stroke Certification preferred
- Experience with pre/post cath lab patients required
- Experience caring for ventilated and tracheostomy patients required
- Comfortable working weekender nights, including every other weekend and holiday coverage as assigned
- Strong clinical judgment, communication skills, and teamwork in a high-acuity healthcare environment
- Ability to meet the physical demands of bedside nursing and follow safety and infection-control practices
Responsibilities
- Perform comprehensive patient assessments and develop individualized plans of care
- Administer medications safely and in accordance with nursing standards and protocols
- Coordinate care with the interdisciplinary team and serve as a point of contact for patients and families
- Monitor and manage patients with complex cardiac and respiratory needs, including post-cath, post-pacer, and other stepdown cases
- Care for patients receiving drips such as Cardizem, Amiodarone, Cardene, Nitro, Heparin, and Insulin
- Provide care for patients with vents, trachs, BiPAP, CPAP, high-flow oxygen, and nasal cannula support
- Assess hemodynamics, manage chest tubes, and assist with temporary pacing and conscious sedation as needed
- Respond quickly to changes in condition and deliver evidence-based, patient-centered care
- Promote patient safety, education, and positive outcomes in a collaborative care setting
