• Setting: 15-bed progressive care unit with telemetry monitoring and step-down level nursing
• Location: Hilo, HI 96720 — scenic Big Island community with a relaxed pace, coastal views, and vibrant local culture
• Additional Notes: No call required; float opportunities may include other acute care units as needed

Job Requirements

• Active Hawaii RN license required by the start of the assignment
• At least 1 year of recent hospital acute care RN experience required within the last year
• Progressive care unit nursing and telemetry experience preferred
• ACLS preferred
• PALS preferred
• NIHSS certification preferred
• Experience with telemetry monitoring and cardiac rhythm strip interpretation preferred
• Comfort working in a fast-paced acute care and step-down environment

Responsibilities

• Provide primary nursing care to progressive care and step-down patients
• Monitor telemetry and interpret cardiac rhythms for cardiac PCU patients
• Perform fingerstick blood sugar checks and support routine bedside care
• Manage patients requiring continuous cardiac monitoring and respiratory support such as BiPAP
• Document care using electronic health record systems and manage medications through automated dispensing processes
• Collaborate with the interdisciplinary healthcare team to support safe, high-quality patient outcomes
• Float to other acute care units, including medical-surgical, pediatrics, ICU, and emergency care areas, as needed
