Job Summary:
Progressive Care Unit (PCU) Nurse position located in Des Moines, Iowa. This role involves providing specialized patient care in a 25-bed progressive care setting, primarily focused on neurotrauma, neurosurgery, orthopedics, and trauma patients. The candidate will be responsible for managing complex patient conditions across multiple campuses, with a focus on safe and effective clinical practices.
Job Details:
- Shift: Days, 12-hour shifts
- Schedule: 36 hours per week, with shifts scheduled as provided
- Required Qualifications: Valid Iowa license or compact/multistate license, 24 months of current Medical Surgical, IMCU, Stepdown, or Progressive Care experience, ACLS and BLS certifications from American Heart Association or ARC, NIHSS (preferred), de-escalation certificate (preferred), telemetry experience required, EKG/strip reading, de-escalation certification preferred
- Preferred Qualifications: Trauma level I experience, neuro and neurosurgery care experience, orthopedic care, EPIC electronic medical record experience, Heparin and PCA drip experience, telemetry and specialty equipment familiarity, experience with chest tubes and airvo, CPI or similar de-escalation certification (preferred)
- Experience: Minimum 24 months in relevant clinical setting, with at least one previous travel assignment within the past 12 months
- Orientation Dates: 08/31/2026, 09/08/2026
- Additional Information:
- Must be able to float across all campuses in the region
- No first-time travelers; previous travel experience required
- No weekend schedule explicitly specified but as scheduled
