Registered Nurse (RN)

Job Description

We are seeking a skilled and compassionate Registered Nurse to join our team. The ideal candidate will have a strong background in critical care nursing, with experience managing patients in a mixed acuity unit.

Key Responsibilities

• Provide nursing care to patients with diverse medical conditions, focusing on high acuity cases.
• Monitor patients' vital signs, manage medication administration, and coordinate with the healthcare team.
• Utilize telemetry monitoring for patients, interpreting and managing dysrhythmias.
• Operate and assist with complex medical equipment, including CPAP, BiPAP, and ventilators.
• Float to similar units as needed to support patient care.
• Participate in admission and discharge processes, collaborating with the nursing and medical teams.

Qualifications

• Minimum of 2 years of nursing experience in a critical care or similar setting.
• Previous travel nursing experience is preferred.
• Demonstrated proficiency in IV starts, telemetry, and management of ventilator patients.
• Current certifications: ACLS, BLS.
• NIHSS certification is preferred.

Patient Population

The patient population will include individuals with conditions such as COPD, pneumonia, respiratory distress, COVID-19, and pulmonary embolisms. The role involves caring for patients who require acute management and monitoring of complex respiratory issues.

Unit Details

• Target nurse-to-patient ratios range from 1:4-5, with a maximum of 1:6 in extreme situations.
• The unit operates with support from an admission/discharge nurse, assistant nurse manager, and other specialized teams.
• Utilization of state-of-the-art medical equipment, including chest tubes and various infusion medications.

Work Schedule

• 12-hour night shifts from 18:45 to 07:15.
• Weekend shifts required every other weekend.
• Block scheduling may be accommodated based on unit needs.
