Job Summary
Progressive Care Unit (PCU) Nurse - Nights - Summit Medical Center: Located at Summit Medical Center, this position involves providing specialized patient care in a 34-bed and 25-bed unit with a focus on clinical skills such as critical thinking, EKG rhythm interpretation, and cardiac and infusion therapy management. The role emphasizes teamwork, patient communication, and adherence to unit policies for a dynamic healthcare environment.
Job Details
- Schedule: Nights shift, 12 hours per shift, with a minimum of 36 hours per week.
- Required Qualifications: Certification in Basic Life Support (BLS), Advanced Cardiovascular Life Support (ACLS); Education requirements include current licensure as a registered nurse; no previous experience minimum required.
- Preferred Qualifications: Experience with bipaps, high flow oxygen systems, stroke, and post-cardiac catheter care; peritoneal dialysis experience preferred; peripheral IV skills; additional certifications or specialized skills are a plus.
- Responsibilities include performing procedures such as peritoneal dialysis, thoracentesis, paracentesis, chest tube insertions, NG/dobhoff tube insertions, central line dressing changes, and troubleshooting wound vacs.
- Additional Information: The unit operates with a self-scheduling system; schedules are four weeks long, and staff are required to work every other weekend. Techs assist with patient care, and the environment promotes teamwork and a "care like family" culture.
