Registered Nurse (RN) - Cardiac PCU

Position Overview

We are seeking an experienced Registered Nurse for our Cardiac Progressive Care Unit (PCU). The ideal candidate will have a strong background in cardiac nursing and the ability to manage a patient ratio of 1:5, with 1:4 for more intensive cases. This is a full-time position requiring a commitment to provide high-quality patient care in a challenging yet rewarding environment.

Schedule

• 3 shifts of 12 hours per week
• Days: 7:00 AM - 7:30 PM
• Weekend rotation and holidays as needed
• Staff are scheduled using a self-assisted schedule through Optilink

Qualifications

• Minimum 2 years of experience in a Cardiac PCU required
• Charge RN experience preferred
• BLS and ACLS certifications required; NIH certification preferred
• First-time travelers are welcome to apply

Key Responsibilities

The Registered Nurse will be responsible for:

• Interpreting and managing dysrhythmias and telemetry monitoring
• Providing pre and post-cardiac catheterization care
• Managing peripheral IV lines and PICC line care
• Administering and titrating cardiac and vasoactive drips
• Performing procedural sedation as needed
• Managing chest tubes, external CPAP, BiPAP, and tracheostomies
• Focusing on cardiac patients including those with congestive heart failure, acute coronary syndrome, arrhythmias, and other cardiac conditions
• Providing care for respiratory issues such as COPD, pneumonia, and BiPAP management

Unit Information

The Cardiac Medical Progressive Care Unit consists of 30 private beds, providing care to patients 24/7. The rooms are monitored remotely by a centralized cardiac monitoring team, ensuring high-quality care and prompt response to emergencies.

Additional Notes

This position requires strong critical thinking skills and the ability to work effectively in a fast-paced environment. Nurse Assistants and RN secretaries are available to provide support during shifts, enhancing the efficiency of care delivery.
