Registered Nurse (RN) - Neuro Intermediate Care Unit

Join our dedicated team in the Neuro Intermediate Care Unit, where you will provide essential care to patients with neurological conditions. The ideal candidate will possess strong teamwork skills and meet professional behavioral expectations in all interactions with patients and staff.

Job Responsibilities

  • Utilize advanced nursing techniques to titrate LEVO and manage critical patient care.
  • Perform cardiac monitoring and respond to emergencies, including interpretation and management of dysrhythmias.
  • Administer IV therapy and manage phlebotomy alongside blood product administration.
  • Maintain continuous bladder irrigation and support pre/post hemodialysis management.
  • Provide gastrointestinal care, including feeding tube management.
  • Monitor and manage respiratory needs through BiPAP/CPAP and care of ventilated patients.
  • Ensure adherence to IV insulin protocols and medication management including heparin and thrombolytic agents.
  • Care for a diverse patient population, including those with neurological disorders such as aneurysms, CVAs, and traumatic brain injuries.
  • Implement isolation precautions and wound care protocols.

Required Skills and Experience

  • Minimum of 2 years of nursing experience, with neuro experience preferred.
  • EMR experience required, specifically with EPIC.
  • Certifications: ACLS, BLS, NIHSS.
  • Ability to adhere strictly to the call-off policy.

Preferred Skills and Certifications

  • IV therapy and phlebotomy experience, including port access and management.
  • Certifications: CCRN, TNCC, CPI.
  • Experience in triage, intracranial pressure management, and conscious sedation.

Shift Information

This position offers full-time 12-hour night shifts from 18:45 to 07:15. Candidates should be available for 3 weekend shifts every six weeks.

Additional Information

  • No call requirement.
  • Weekends and floating to other intermediate units may be required.
  • Unit orientation consists of 32 hours, including an 8-hour computer class and two shifts on the unit.
  • Scrubs are not provided; a combination of navy blue and white is required.
