Registered Nurse (RN)

Position Overview

This position is for a Registered Nurse in a Progressive Care Unit (PCU), working with a diverse patient population ranging from adolescents to geriatrics. The ideal candidate will possess strong clinical skills, particularly in cardiac and respiratory care, and have experience in telemetry monitoring.

Key Responsibilities

• Provide care for PCU level patients with varying medical needs.
• Monitor and titrate cardiac drips as necessary.
• Maintain continuous telemetry monitoring for patients.
• Collaborate with healthcare teams utilizing effective communication techniques such as SBAR.
• Utilize Epic and Pyxis systems for patient management.

Shift and Scheduling

• Shift: Night 3x12-Hour (19:00 - 07:30)
• No block scheduling; assignments may include weekend shifts every other weekend.
• Floating may be required within the facility and scope of practice as needed.

Patient Care Ratio

Staffing ratio is 1:4 on a 36-bed unit with an average daily census of 30 patients.

Qualifications

• Minimum of 1 year of experience in a registered nursing role; first-time travelers are welcome to apply.
• Required certifications: BLS, ACLS, NIH.

Compliance Requirements

Full compliance with required documentation and certifications is necessary to ensure a timely start. Failure to comply may result in push back due to the bi-weekly orientation schedule.

Holiday and Time Off Policy

• Holidays: Travelers are expected to work one major holiday if it falls within the assignment period. If two major holidays occur, the traveler must work both. If three major holidays fall within the assignment, the expectation is to work two out of the three holidays.
• Major Holidays include Memorial Day, Independence Day, Labor Day, Thanksgiving/Black Friday, Christmas Eve/Christmas Day, and New Year's Eve/New Year's Day.
• Maximum Request Time Off (RTO) is 7 days; specific blackout dates apply around Spring Break (April 4th-12th).
