RN - PCU

Join a leading acute-care hospital as a Registered Nurse in the Progressive Care Unit (PCU). This position offers a unique opportunity to work in a dynamic environment, providing care for patients with a variety of diagnoses. We are seeking a compassionate and skilled RN with a minimum of 18 months of PCU RN experience.

Unit Information:

• Beds: 32
• Patient Ratios: RN: 1:4 is most common; could possibly go to 1:5 depending on acuity
• LPN (if applicable): 4:1
• CNA: Days 1:12; Nights 1:16

Patient Types/Common Diagnoses:

• CHF
• Dysrhythmia
• Chest Pain work up
• Stroke
• Abdominal illnesses and infections
• Respiratory illness
• Diabetes
• AKI/CKD
• ETOH withdrawal
• IVDA

Required Licensure & Certifications:

• BLS
• ACLS
• NIHSS

Skills Required:

• Experience with traches
• Cardiac gtt experience
• Cardiac rhythm interpretation
• Chest tubes
• Blood products
• Wound care/dressing changes
• Management of central lines

Support within the Department:

• CNA - ADL’s
• Charge nurse – Resource to assist with all nursing care
• Phlebotomy
• IV/VAT Team
• RT, 24/7
• Hospitalist, 24/7
• Intensivist, 24/7
• Telemetry monitoring – bedside and nurses station

Technology/Equipment:

• EMR: EPIC
• IV Pump: Alaris
• Med dispensing: Omnicell
• Monitors: Phillips

Floating:

Within region and scope of practice. Will be required to float per region needs – will require floating to all facilities listed below, as needed, within scope of practice. If floating mid-shift, Traveler will be paid for the time traveling between facilities (will remain on the clock).

Scheduling:

• Weekend rotation: every other
• Call: Possibility of low census call. Can be called back up to 3a for Nights and up to 3p for Days
• Holiday Expectations: Travelers will work 75% of holidays
• RTO: Can approve up to 6 days off, excluding holidays – must add time to the end of the contract if unable to meet contracted hours
• Schedule cycle: every 6 weeks
