Job Summary:
Progressive Care Unit (PCU) registered nurses provide competent clinical nursing care consistent with professional standards within a hospital setting. Reporting to the Nurse Manager or Director, the staff nurse coordinates and delivers patient care using the nursing process, handling patients with complex needs. The role requires adaptability to a dynamic environment, particularly as the unit operates under a pilot program with a mixed patient population of step-down and acute neurological patients.
Job Details:
- Schedule: Nights shift, 12 hours shift hours, minimum of 36 hours per week.
- Required Qualifications: Nursing diploma or Associate Degree in Nursing (ADN) or Bachelor of Science in Nursing (BSN) from an accredited school of Nursing; Current licensure to practice as a Registered Nurse in North Carolina; Basic Life Support (BLS) for Healthcare Providers certification (AHA or ARC); one (1) year of nursing experience.
- Preferred Qualifications: BSN or MSN from an accredited school of Nursing.
- Certifications & Licensure: Required: Licensed to practice as a Registered Nurse in North Carolina, BLS certification.
- Additional Information: Required certifications include Advanced Cardiovascular Life Support (ACLS), National Institute of Health Stroke Scale (NIHSS), CHARGE certification, and precepting experience. Candidates should be comfortable caring for both acute and step-down neurological patients in a fast-paced environment. The unit is currently operating under a pilot program, with an anticipated transition back to a traditional model after November. The assignment may involve precepting or charge responsibilities nearly every shift.
