Travel RN – PCU / Progressive Care Unit (Night Shift)

Schedule / Job Type

Contract | 13 Weeks | Full-Time | Onsite | Nights (7:00 PM – 7:00 AM) | Three 12-hour shifts per week | Every other weekend required | Projected Start: 09/21/2026

Key Responsibilities

  • Provide direct patient care on a Progressive Care Unit with patient ratios of 1:5 to 1:6 on nights across units with 25–34 beds
  • Manage and monitor cardiac drips, heparin drips, and insulin drips; operate Alaris pumps and assist with peritoneal dialysis
  • Support patients requiring BiPAP, high-flow O2, Vapotherm, and multiple oxygen delivery systems
  • Perform and assist with unit procedures including central line dressing changes, wound vac troubleshooting, NG/Dobhoff tube insertions, thoracentesis, paracentesis, and chest tube insertions
  • Conduct hourly rounding per patient experience standards; maintain communication boards and utilize AIDET communication framework
  • Document all patient care using Meditech; may be required to float between PCU units or to med-surg floors

Required Qualifications

  • Active RN license valid for practice in Tennessee
  • BLS certification required
  • ACLS certification required
  • Minimum 2 years of PCU, stepdown, or IMC nursing experience
  • Demonstrated critical thinking skills with proficiency in EKG rhythm interpretation and peripheral IV placement
  • Experience with cardiac drips, heparin drips, and insulin drips

Preferred Experience / Skills

  • Peritoneal dialysis experience
  • Experience with stroke care and post-cardiac catheterization patient management
  • Experience with tube feedings and NG/Dobhoff tube management
  • Familiarity with Meditech documentation system
