40-HOUR POST-ANESTHESIA CARE UNIT (PACU) RN CONTRACT – FAIRFIELD COUNTY / GREATER NYC METRO

An immediate 12-week travel contract opening is available for an experienced Post-Anesthesia Care Unit (PACU) Registered Nurse (RN) in Bridgeport, Connecticut (Fairfield County / Coastal Connecticut). Operating within a high-volume Surgical Services and Ambulatory PACU department at an established acute care medical center, this position features a 40-hour guaranteed weekly schedule structured as two 12-hour shifts and two 8-hour shifts per week (rotations available: Day/Night or Day/Evening). HIGH-PAYING CONNECTICUT PACU CONTRACT! The unit manages complex post-operative Phase I and Phase II recoveries across high-acuity surgical specialties including total joint orthopedics, neurosurgery, robotics, and craniotomies. PRE-CALCULATED PAY PACKAGE

  • Weekly Gross: $2,834.00
  • Weekly Tax-Free Stipend: $1,694.00
  • Hourly W2 Rate: $28.50/hr (40 regular hours)
  • Overtime Rate: $42.75/hr

SHIFT & POSITION DETAILS

  • Schedule: 40 hours guaranteed weekly structured as two 12-hour shifts and two 8-hour shifts. Two distinct schedule rotations available:
    • Option 1: Day/Night rotation
    • Option 2: Day/Evening rotation
  • Guaranteed Hours: 40 regular hours guaranteed weekly.
  • Assignment Duration: 12 Weeks (October 19, 2026 – January 16, 2027).
  • On-Call Requirements: Weekend on-call coverage required (up to 3 call shifts per 6-week schedule block).
  • Department Setting: OR Ambulatory PACU / Perianesthesia Surgical Services.
  • Clinical Specialty Scope & Case Mix:
    • Immediate Phase I post-anesthesia emergence and Phase II discharge preparation.
    • Complex orthopedic procedures (total knee, total hip, fracture reconstructions).
    • Neurosurgical and cranial operative cases.
    • Multi-specialty robotic-assisted procedures (da Vinci).
    • General surgery, gynecology, and urologic surgical interventions.
  • Core Clinical Competencies: Advanced airway management (extubation recovery, LMA, oral/nasal airways), continuous cardiac rhythm and hemodynamic line monitoring, active titration of IV analgesics and antiemetics, Aldrete scoring, and neurological assessment protocols.

REQUISITE QUALIFICATIONS FOR SUBMISSION

  • Experience: Minimum 2–3 years of dedicated acute hospital PACU / Post-Anesthesia Care clinical nursing experience.
  • Licensure: Active Connecticut RN License strictly in hand at submittal.
  • Certifications Required at Submittal (Must have all four active):
    • American Heart Association (AHA) Basic Life Support (BLS).
    • AHA Advanced Cardiovascular Life Support (ACLS).
    • AHA Pediatric Advanced Life Support (PALS).
    • NIH Stroke Scale (NIHSS) Certification.

Clinical Case Experience: Resume must clearly document experience managing Phase I recoveries for neuro/cranial cases, total joints/orthopedics, and robotic procedures.
