Job Details

• Position: PACU Registered Nurse (Post Anesthesia Care Unit RN)
• Employment Type: Travel Nursing Assignment
• Location: Midlothian, Virginia area, just outside greater Richmond
• Start Date: 10/12/2026
• Duration: 13 weeks
• Estimated Weekly Pay: $2,000 - $2,100
• Schedule: 36 hours per week; 4x10-hour shifts or 3x12-hour shifts available
• Shift Duration: 10-hour days
• Shift Window: 5:30 AM to 10:00 PM
• Call Requirement: 4 weeknight call shifts per 6-week schedule, plus 1 weekend 24-hour call shift
• Patient Population: Neonates through geriatrics
• Case Mix: Orthopedics, breast, urology, gynecology, vascular, general surgery, ENT, and plastics

Job Requirements

• Active Registered Nurse license in Virginia or compact licensure eligibility
• Minimum of 1 year of PACU nursing experience required
• Experience with pre-op admission, post-anesthesia recovery, same-day discharge, and IV insertion
• Ability to support both PACU recovery and pre-op care as needed
• BLS, ACLS, and PALS certifications required
• Prior travel nursing experience preferred
• Strong critical thinking, assessment, and communication skills
• Ability to work effectively in a high-acuity, fast-paced surgical services environment

Responsibilities

• Provide safe, compassionate patient care in the Post Anesthesia Care Unit
• Perform thorough pre-op and post-op assessments and monitor recovery status
• Support same-day surgery discharge workflows and provide patient education as appropriate
• Insert IVs and manage patient care needs according to unit standards
• Collaborate with surgeons, anesthesia providers, and the surgical care team
• Respond quickly to changes in patient condition and prioritize care appropriately
• Maintain accurate clinical documentation and uphold safe nursing practices
• Contribute to efficient patient flow in a busy surgical recovery setting
