Wellspring Nurse Source is seeking a travel nurse RN PACU - Post Anesthesia Care for a travel nursing job in Roanoke, Virginia.

Job Description & Requirements

PACU Registered Nurse (RN)

Scheduling Details

  • Shift Hours: 3 shifts of 12 hours each, either 8:00 AM - 8:30 PM or 9:00 AM - 9:30 PM.
  • Weekend Requirement: May include every other weekend or 6 shifts in a 6-week scheduling block.
  • On Call Requirement: Shared rotation with staff based on sign-up.
  • Holiday Requirement: Must work one holiday during each 13-week contract.

Charting and Documentation

  • Experience with EPIC charting is required.
  • All scheduling and time-off requests must be submitted in advance.
  • Facility may call off one shift every two weeks.

Required Certifications

  • ACLS
  • BLS
  • PALS

Required Clinical Skills

  • IV therapy, including blood products, central/PICC line care, and IV starts.
  • Respiratory care for ventilated patients, chest tubes, airway management, tracheostomy, extubation, and End-Tidal CO2 monitoring.
  • Neuro care for craniotomy, EVD, spine surgery, and stroke scale assessments.
  • Cardiac care including antiarrhythmics, antihypertensives, vasopressors, opioids, reversal agents, arterial line management, dysrhythmia management, and CPR.
  • Surgical procedure support including ENT, general, neuro, orthopedic, total joints, cholecystectomy, and spinal surgeries.
  • Monitoring and assessments involving lab values, infection control, malignant hyperthermia, pain management, PCA, and RASS.
  • Pediatric management.
  • Pre/Post-operative care including EKG, patient consent, and catheterization procedures.

Unit Details and Patient Population

  • Patient Ratios: 1 nurse to 2 patients.
  • Patient Population: Adolescents, infants, adults, pediatrics, and geriatrics.
  • Surgical Specialties: Includes ICU, trauma surgery, pediatrics, bariatric surgery, breast surgery, colorectal surgery, dental surgery, emergency general surgery, ENT, gastroenterology, gynecology, neurosurgery, ophthalmology, orthopedics, podiatry, pulmonology, and urology.
  • Floating: May be required to float within skillset.
