Registered Nurse (RN) - Post Anesthesia Care Unit (PACU)

This position is responsible for maintaining the respiratory and cardiac stability of patients as they awaken from anesthesia. The RN in the PACU plays a crucial role in continuously assessing patients, executing physician orders, and ensuring patient safety and comfort throughout their recovery process.

Responsibilities

• Patient Assessment (30%): Regularly assesses patient needs and delivers skilled nursing services as outlined in the physician's authorized plan of care, adhering to accepted nursing practice standards.
• Direct Care (30%): Provides hands-on patient care, which includes medication administration, performing treatments, managing call lights, assisting with transfers, and responding to alarms.
• Treatment Evaluation (20%): Evaluates the effectiveness of treatment plans and collaborates with team members to suggest updates and improvements using current information to enhance patient care.
• Order Processing (10%): Accurately processes physician/provider orders and performs assigned treatments in a timely and complete manner.
• Medication Follow-Up (10%): Monitors medication changes and clarifies orders as necessary to ensure optimal patient care.

Qualifications

• Minimum of 2 years of experience in the Post Anesthesia Care Unit (PACU) is required.
• Current and active Registered Nurse (RN) license in Michigan.
• Active certifications in Basic Life Support (BLS) and Advanced Cardiovascular Life Support (ACLS), both from the American Heart Association.

Schedule Requirements

Shifts typically begin between 10:00 AM and 11:30 PM, with occasional weekend coverage and on-call responsibilities, primarily one night a week with potential weekend needs.
