Registered Nurse (RN) - MS/Tele

Job Description

We are seeking an experienced Registered Nurse (RN) to join our fast-paced MS/Tele unit specializing in orthopedic and neurosurgical care. The ideal candidate will have a strong background in orthopedics and be able to manage patient care effectively.

Key Responsibilities

• Provide direct patient care to orthopedic, neuro spine, and post-surgical patients.
• Monitor patient vitals and telemetry data, ensuring timely interventions.
• Coordinate and implement pain management strategies for patients.
• Work collaboratively within a healthcare team to meet patient needs.
• Float to other medical-surgical units as required based on staffing needs.

Qualifications

Required Skills and Experience:

• Minimum of 2 years of nursing experience, specifically in orthopedics.
• Experience with IV starts and telemetry monitoring.
• Must possess current BCLS and NIH certifications.
• Experience using EPIC electronic health record system is preferred, including acceptance of first-time travelers.

Preferred Skills and Experience:

• ACLS certification.
• Charge nurse experience.
• Experience in a Level I Trauma center.

Work Environment

The unit expects nurse-to-patient ratios of 5-6:1, which may flex to 7:1 in extreme circumstances. Nurses will work 12-hour day shifts from 06:45 to 19:15, with options for 36 or 48 hours per week. Block scheduling options are available.

Patient Population

The average daily census is approximately 37 patients, with a total of 39 beds. The unit caters to a diverse patient population requiring orthopedic and neurosurgical care. Please note that COVID-19 patients are integrated into the general patient population, with no designated COVID units.

Additional Notes

• A maximum of 7 days' request time off (RTO) is permitted; holiday RTO will not be approved.
• All candidates must pass EKG testing prior to starting in this specialty.

Weekend Requirement

Nurses are required to work every other weekend. If a call-off occurs on a weekend, nurses will need to make up that time on a subsequent weekend.
