Job Summary (List Format):

- Position: Operating Room Nurse Traveler (Scrub/Circulate)
- Location: UnityPoint Health – Iowa Methodist Medical Center, Des Moines, IA (floating to Iowa Lutheran & Methodist campuses)
- Shift/Workload: 36-40 hrs/week (OT after 40), or 48 hrs/week (OT after 48); average 35-50 cases/day; patient ratio 1:1; 16 ORs (12-14 run routinely)
- Patient Population: General, DaVinci Robotics, Pediatrics, Trauma (required); Neuro, Ortho (primarily trauma), Gynecology, Urology, Transplants, Plastics, ENT, Vascular (highly preferred)
- Equipment/Specialty: 3 DaVinci robots, Stealth for Neuro, Synthes/Stryker for ortho trauma; limited ortho joints
- Call Requirements: Weekend call from Friday end of shift to 6:30am Monday; On-call pay $9/hr; Call back at 1.5x (2 hr minimum)
- Compensation: OT/Holiday at 1.15x; charge/precept at $6/hr
- Holiday Requirement: Must work 1-2 of 3 summer holidays (Memorial Day, Independence Day, Labor Day) unless unit closed
- Orientation: 16 hours; Dates: 9/21, 9/28, 10/5, 10/12, 10/19
- Scrubs: Provided
- Floating: Required across all listed campuses
- Submission Requirements:
- 24 months recent OR experience (hospital/medical center prioritized)
- Experience circulating in OR (required); scrubbing (highly preferred)
- Experience in General, Robotics, Pediatrics, Trauma (required)
- EPIC EMR experience within last 3 years (required)
- Trauma Level I (highly preferred) and Level II (required) experience
- No first-time travelers; must have completed travel assignment in last 9 months
- Active Iowa or compact/multistate RN license (required)
- AHA or Red Cross BLS (required)
- Driver’s License (required)
- Professional reference (preferred)
- Other Policies:
- No local candidates (must live >50 miles from facility)
- Employee separation policy applies to previous UPH FTE or PRN staff
- Facility Details: Level I trauma center; 16-bed OR; case turnover expectation <20 minutes; serves broad range of specialties
