Registered Nurse (RN) Surgical Suite
Job Description Summary
Utilizing the nursing process, you will be responsible for providing immediate and long-term nursing care needs of patients within the standards of the department and regulatory agencies.
Essential Functions
- Accurately assess patients’ needs using multiple data sources to determine actual and potential health problems.
- Utilize a Recovery Oriented Framework to identify patient strengths.
- Perform point of care testing and effectively communicate findings to healthcare team members.
- Maintain documentation that reflects response to interventions and demonstrates understanding of patients’ responses to treatment.
- Identify patient behaviors contributing to crises and apply non-verbal and verbal techniques to de-escalate situations.
- Plan and modify nursing interventions for assigned patients, tailoring plans to meet individual needs.
- Contribute to the development of multidisciplinary treatment plans.
- Demonstrate the ability to prioritize patient care needs effectively.
- Partner with patients and families to support recovery goals.
- Implement nursing care interventions and establish a therapeutic alliance with patients.
- Administer medications safely, accurately, and timely using BMV scanning.
- Review physician orders in a timely manner.
- Promote interventions that emphasize the least-restrictive alternatives and recovery-oriented goals.
- Participate in leading patient groups and evaluate the effectiveness of nursing care interventions.
- Provide accurate communication of patients’ clinical status during team rounds and shift changes.
- Utilize evidence-based nursing knowledge to guide practice decisions.
- Take a leadership role in organizing and providing patient care and supervise other staff members.
- Delegate care interventions and assume a leadership role during medical and psychiatric emergencies.
- Facilitate critical incident de-briefing following emergency events.
Qualifications
- Current nursing license and certification in Basic Life Support (BLS).
- Experience in ophthalmology and ENT preferred.
