Job Summary
Operating Room (OR) Specialist in a healthcare facility will be responsible for circulating surgery cases, pulling and prepping for surgeries, working from a preference card system, and setting up/cleaning/turning over operating rooms. The role includes diverse surgical specialties such as general, OB/GYN, urology, orthopedics, podiatry, ENT, cardiovascular, and bariatrics, utilizing various surgical equipment and computer charting systems.

Job Details

• Position: Operating Room (OR) Specialist
• Location: Healthcare facility (location not specified)
• Schedule: Rotating shift, 8 hours per shift, full-time (40 hours per week), with call rotation (1-2 days per week, every 2nd-4th weekend, rotating holidays)
• Required Qualifications: Licensure as a San Diego Registered Nurse (SD RN License), BLS (Basic Life Support), ACLS (Advanced Cardiovascular Life Support), PALS (Pediatric Advanced Life Support) preferred; minimum of 2 years OR experience
• Additional Information:
  • Ability to float within peri-operative departments, including Patient Center (pre-op, post-op, outpatient services) and Post-Anesthesia Care Unit (PACU)
  • Bed size of 4 operating rooms, 1 procedure room, 8 PACU bays, and 18 patient center rooms
  • Nurse to patient ratios: 1:1 in OR; 1:1-4 in Patient Center depending on patient needs; 2:1 in PACU
  • Initial department orientation and equipment training provided, including in-depth orientation for unfamiliar equipment
  • Cancellation policy allows up to 12 hours' notice every 13 weeks
  • Charting system: Epic; medication systems: Pyxis and Pharmacy
