Registered Nurse (RN) - Operating Room

Position Summary:

The Registered Nurse collaborates effectively with healthcare team members to plan and implement education for patients and their families. This role includes assessing patient needs and initiating appropriate interventions.

Minimum Qualifications:

  • Bachelor's degree from an accredited School of Nursing, an Associate's degree, or a diploma
  • Current Montana Registered Nurse Licensure
  • American Heart Association Basic Life Support (BLS) certification
  • American Heart Association Advanced Cardiovascular Life Support (ACLS) certification
  • Minimum of 18 months of experience as a Registered Nurse
  • Preferred: Certified Nurse Operating Room (CNOR)
  • Preferred: 1 year of circulating experience
  • Preferred: 1 year of scrub experience

Essential Job Functions:

  • Collect comprehensive data pertinent to the patient's health or situation.
  • Analyze assessment data to establish diagnoses or issues.
  • Identify expected outcomes for a tailored patient care plan.
  • Develop and implement strategies to achieve expected outcomes.
  • Promote health and ensure a safe environment.
  • Continuously enhance the quality and effectiveness of nursing practice.
  • Maintain knowledge and competency that reflects current nursing practices.
  • Evaluate nursing practice in relation to professional standards and regulations.
  • Engage with peers and contribute to their professional development.
  • Collaborate with patients, families, and healthcare team members in nursing practice.
  • Incorporate ethical provisions into all areas of practice.
  • Utilize research findings in clinical practice.
  • Demonstrate leadership within the nursing practice setting and the profession.

Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:

  • Excellent judgment, patience, and professional demeanor at all times.
  • Ability to thrive in a busy and stressful environment.
  • Creative problem-solving and effective decision-making skills.
  • Flexibility to work varied shifts as needed.
  • Demonstrated tact, discretion, and sensitivity while maintaining confidentiality.
  • Self-directed with a commitment to completing assignments accurately and thoroughly.
  • Strong emotional intelligence and interpersonal skills for effective teamwork.

Stroke Competency:

  • Adhere to hospital protocols related to hyperacute and acute stroke care.
  • Complete two hours of initial cerebrovascular disease education within the first year of employment.
  • Participate in one hour of annual cerebrovascular disease education thereafter.

Shift Information:

  • Variable day shift with call requirements.
  • Holiday coverage may be needed.

Experience Requirements:

  • Minimum of 2 years of nursing experience.

Certifications/Requirements:

  • ACLS certification
  • BLS/BCLS certification
