Job Summary:
Operating Room (OR) Nurse in an acute care setting is responsible for providing perioperative patient care through all phases of surgery. This role involves supporting various surgical specialties and ensuring compliance with safety and procedural standards during evening shifts. The position demands flexibility to work on a variety of cases including general, ENT, eyes, ortho, trauma, vascular, and pediatric surgeries.
Job Details:
- Schedule: 8-hour shifts, primarily in the evening, with varied start times. The scheduled shifts include 3-11:30 PM, with additional rotations for weekend, holiday, and call responsibilities. Minimum of 40 hours per week.
- Required Qualifications: Valid licenses with a willingness to wait for submission approval; minimum of 2 years of experience in the operating room specialty; prior travel experience (2-3 assignments); orthopedic experience required; experience passing arms in and out for robotics; proficiency with EPIC electronic charting system; certifications include ACLS (American Heart Association), BLS (American Heart Association).
- Preferred Qualifications: Ability to scrub, experience with all surgical specialties for evening/night shifts, and charge nurse or house supervisor experience.
- Additional Information: The unit is almost entirely staffed by travelers, with no aids or housekeeping; techs are responsible for room turnover. Orientation consists of 3 shifts over 1 week. Scrubs are provided. A response time of 30 minutes for on-call situations is expected; staff may be required to stay if they are over 30 minutes away. The role includes floating to outpatient surgery as needed, with dress code of provided scrubs.
