Job Summary
Operating Room (OR) Nurse located in Springfield, Illinois. This position involves providing specialized surgical nursing care in a Level I trauma center. The role offers flexible scheduling with night shifts, and candidates will work with a variety of service lines except cardiovascular. The position is ideal for experienced OR nurses seeking a dynamic environment within a high-acuity acute care hospital.

Job Details

  • Schedule: 5x8 Night shifts (2245-0715), minimum 40 hours per week
  • Required Qualifications: Illinois Nursing license in hand or in application process, minimum 2.5 years of OR experience, Certified Operating Room Nurse (CNOR), BLS certification, trauma Level I experience, at least 2.0 years of clinical experience, prior experience with general surgery cases (appendectomy, cholecystectomy, colon resection, hernia repair inguinal/umbilical, laparoscopic assisted procedures, mastectomy, thyroidectomy partial/total, Whipple), and experience with laparoscopic assisted cases.
  • Preferred Qualifications: Cerner electronic charting system experience, cranial and spinal surgery skills, organ donation experience, and vascular surgery skills.
  • Additional Information: Must work with all service lines except cardiovascular, with general OR and trauma experience required. The facility is a Level I trauma center with 562 staffed beds, and parking is provided at no cost. Candidate must be willing to float rarely within skill set.
  • Travel Experience: Prior travel or interim experience preferred.
  • Certifications: BLS, CNOR, CST.
  • Special Requirements: Will work with all service lines except cardiovascular. General OR and trauma experience required. Cerner experience preferred. Level I trauma experience required.
  • Time Off Policies: All requested time off must be reviewed and approved by management. Up to 36 hours of client-cancelled hours may be called off without billing, with additional cancellations billed accordingly.
  • Other Details: Orientation includes 40 hours pre-assignment, completed virtually. The candidate must complete all module requirements on Day 1 by 4:00 PM CST.
