Operating Room Registered Nurse (OR RN) – Travel Nursing Assignment in Baltimore, Maryland
Join a collaborative perioperative team as an Operating Room Registered Nurse (OR RN) in Baltimore, Maryland. This travel nursing opportunity supports a high-volume General OR serving pediatric, adult, and geriatric patients, with approximately 40 surgical cases per day. You will provide safe, age-appropriate perioperative care while working alongside an interdisciplinary team focused on advanced technology, minimally invasive techniques, evidence-based practice, surgical education, and compassionate patient service.

Travel Nursing Job Details
- Weekly Estimated Pay: $2,250–$2,370

- Schedule: 5 shifts per week, 8-hour shifts
- Shift: Day shift, 11:00 a.m. – 7:30 p.m.
- Weekend Requirement: Every other weekend
- Call Requirement: Approximately one call shift per week, plus two 8-hour weekend shifts within a 6-week schedule
- Patient Assignment: 1:1 perioperative staffing model
- Floating: May float within scope of practice to support system needs
- Charting: Cerner/SurgiNet experience preferred
- First-Time Travelers: Accepted
Operating Room RN Job Requirements
- At least 2 years of recent Operating Room Registered Nurse experience
- General OR and Level II trauma experience required
- Active Maryland or compact Registered Nurse license at the time of submission
- Current Basic Life Support (BLS) certification
- Completion of a 16-hour Maryland-approved trauma course by the required deadline
- Completion of 8 hours of annual trauma continuing education
- Proficiency with trauma, ENT, colorectal, plastics, neurosurgery, surgical oncology, oral/dental, laparoscopic, urology, ophthalmology, gynecology, general surgery, orthopedic, robotic, vascular, and thoracic procedures
- Required experience with emergency OR response, fire safety, malignant hyperthermia, latex allergy precautions, electrosurgical units, fiber-optic equipment, and Steris equipment
- ACLS, NIHSS, PALS, Level I trauma, charge nursing, and Cerner experience are preferred
Perioperative Nursing Responsibilities
- Provide safe, age-appropriate perioperative nursing care for pediatric, adult, and geriatric patients
- Serve as an engaged member of the surgical patient care team and a resource for patients and families
- Prepare, coordinate, and support surgical procedures across a broad range of specialties
- Demonstrate competency with trauma, thoracic, ENT, endoscopic, general, gynecologic, neurosurgical, orthopedic, vascular, robotic, and other complex procedures
- Apply universal protocol, infection prevention, specimen handling, fire safety, radiation safety, and latex allergy precautions
- Recognize and respond appropriately to emergencies, including malignant hyperthermia, code events, and urgent OR needs
- Operate and support the safe use of electrosurgical units, fiber-optic equipment, Steris systems, and robotic technology
- Collaborate with surgical providers, anesthesia, radiology, pharmacy, respiratory services, interpretation services, transportation, and other interdisciplinary partners
- Float within the RN's scope of practice as needed to promote safe and efficient patient care
