Registered Nurse (RN) - Operating Room

Job Overview

We are seeking a dedicated Registered Nurse (RN) to join our Operating Room team. The ideal candidate will possess strong clinical skills and a passion for patient care within a surgical environment.

Key Responsibilities

• Provide high-quality nursing care to adult and geriatric patients undergoing surgical procedures.
• Scrub and circulate in a variety of surgical cases, including trauma, urology, podiatry, orthopedics, plastics, neurology, gynecology, endoscopy, ENT, thoracic, vascular, cardiology, bariatric, and DaVinci robotics.
• Ensure patient safety and comfort before, during, and after surgical procedures.
• Collaborate effectively with the surgical team to facilitate optimal patient outcomes.
• Maintain accurate and comprehensive electronic medical records (EMR) using Epic software.

Qualifications

• Must have a valid Registered Nurse (RN) license in the state of Maryland.
• BLS certification is required; ACLS certification is preferred.
• Minimum of 3 years of experience in the Operating Room; candidates with 2 years of strong experience may be considered.
• First-time travelers will be considered if they have strong general operating room and robotics experience.
• Ability to scrub and circulate in a variety of surgical specialties is essential.

Work Schedule

This position requires working 3x12 hour shifts during the mids (10:45 AM to 11:15 PM). Weekend shifts and holiday coverage will be required.

Additional Requirements

• Floating within the specialty may be required based on departmental needs.
• Must be available for on-call shifts, averaging 5-6 calls per 4-week period.
• Arrive within 30 minutes if called in during on-call shifts.

Patient Care Focus

The Operating Room team serves a diverse patient population, focusing on the needs of adults and geriatrics. The nurse-patient ratio is 1:1, ensuring personalized attention and support during surgical procedures.

This position is within a Level II Trauma center, providing a fast-paced, dynamic environment conducive to professional growth and development.
