Job Requirements

  • Active Maryland RN license or compact RN license required at time of submission
  • Minimum of 2 years of Operating Room RN experience required
  • Level II trauma experience required
  • Current BLS certification required
  • 16-hour Maryland-approved trauma course required
  • 8 hours of annual trauma CEUs required
  • References required
  • Experience with a broad range of surgical cases preferred, including general, trauma, orthopedics, neurosurgery, vascular, thoracic, gynecology, urology, ENT, plastics, and robotics
  • Experience with Cerner and/or Surginet preferred
  • Ability to work in a high-volume OR environment and adapt to changing surgical needs

Responsibilities

  • Provide safe, age-appropriate perioperative nursing care to pediatric, adult, and geriatric patients
  • Circulate and assist in a variety of surgical procedures across multiple specialties
  • Support trauma, ENT, colorectal, plastics, neurosurgery, surgical oncology, oral/dental, laparoscopic, urology, ophthalmology, GYN, general surgery, orthopedic, robotic, vascular, and thoracic cases
  • Maintain patient safety and follow universal protocol, infection control, and sterile technique standards
  • Assist with emergency OR response, malignant hyperthermia precautions, latex allergy precautions, and fire safety protocols
  • Work collaboratively with surgeons, anesthesia providers, and the interdisciplinary healthcare team
  • Contribute to a smooth, efficient workflow in a busy Operating Room averaging approximately 40 cases per day
  • Float within scope as needed to support facility needs
