Operating Room Registered Nurse (OR RN)

Position Overview

The Operating Room Registered Nurse (OR RN) will be an essential member of a busy and dynamic nursing team within a level-one trauma center. This role requires a highly skilled nurse to assist in various surgical specialties including Trauma, Transplant, Orthopedics, Neuro, ENT, GU-GYN, and Robotics.

Shift Information

• Schedule: 4x10 hour shifts, Days (6:30 AM - 5:00 PM)
• On-call Requirements: Yes, up to 4 call shifts every 4 weeks
• Weekend Requirements: Up to one working weekend shift every 4 weeks
• Holiday Requirements: Must work at least one holiday period

Key Responsibilities

• Participate in a variety of surgical procedures, demonstrating both scrub and circulate capabilities
• Collaborate with surgical teams to ensure the highest standards of patient care
• Maintain a clean and safe environment in the operating room
• Adhere to established protocols and procedures within a Magnet designated department
• Float within scope as required to meet facility needs

Qualifications

• Must have a valid SC or Multi State/Compact RN license
• 2 years of experience strongly preferred, but first-timers are welcome to apply
• Current certifications in BLS and Radiation Badge (provided by agency)
• Experience in a Level 1 trauma center is highly desirable
• Scrub experience is preferred

Miscellaneous Information

• Open to accommodating block schedules upon manager's approval, depending on unit needs
• Local candidates may be accepted on a case-by-case basis
• All requests for time off (RTO) must be included at the time of submission and will be approved based on facility needs
• Guaranteed hours policy allows for facility to call off 1 shift per 2 weeks, with called-off hours totaling up to 1 shift

Additional Notes

Travelers should be aware that during hurricane season, all employees and contractors may be assigned to emergency response teams. The hurricane season runs from June through November, with peak activity observed in August and September.

Work Environment

This position is based in a level-one, academic trauma center with 21 operating room suites and a diverse range of surgical specialties. The nursing team consists of approximately 75% Registered Nurses and 25% Certified Surgical Technologists.

Charting System

Documentation will be managed through the EPIC charting system.
