Job Summary:
Operating Room (OR) nurse in Wheeling, West Virginia. This position involves providing perioperative care in a surgical setting, supporting a variety of procedures within a busy surgical center. The role requires flexibility with shifts, including day, afternoon, or midnight hours, and adherence to department protocols.
Job Details:
- Schedule: Three 12-hour shifts per week or four 10-hour shifts per week, including one scheduled weekend day and one second-call weekend day within a 4-week schedule. Shifts may include dayshift, afternoon shifts, or midnight shifts based on departmental needs.
- Required Qualifications: Certifications including Basic Life Support (BLS); minimum of 2 years of experience in operating room or perioperative nursing; valid nursing license; willingness to wait for license submission.
- Preferred Qualifications: Knowledge of surgical procedures, robotics, and IV skills required; scrub experience; surgical center or preoperative care experience preferred.
- Additional Information: The position is located in a preoperative area operating as a surgical center, not a standalone surgical facility. Unit orientation will be specific to the surgical center. Scrub color/dress code will be provided by the facility. The EMR system used is Sunrise, with Epic going live as of April 1.
- Float: OR holding area; floating may be required in specific circumstances.
- Shift & Scheduling: Day shift 6 a.m. to 2 p.m., 7 a.m. to 3 p.m., 8 a.m. to 4 p.m., or 9 a.m. to 5 p.m., with 36 hours minimum per week starting around 08/24/2026.
- Additional Notes: Shift flexibility and adherence to operational protocols are essential. No mandatory call/standby required; 30-minute call response time.
